I believe that whoever invented the term "scaredy cat" had a cat like Patchouli. She is the most nervous, high strung cat ever. All of the other cats pick on her, probably because it's such fun. If the charge towards her, she immediately cowers down and begins screaming. It literally sounds like they are killing her and they can be three feet away. It's pathetic really. I found out just how pathetic it was, when one day I was on the computer in the basement. I heard this loud cat screeching coming from the other room. Sounded like a horrendous fight. I immediately jump up and run into the room. There is Patchouli, screeching like she is in a life-or-death battle, crouched down. I look up and see the neighbor's cat, on the other side of the window, outside. Yes, outside.
When Patchouli does venture outside, she spends most of her time craning her neck like those antelopes that you see on videos, trying to get a drink of water in the pond, but they have to keep swiveling around to look for lions and tigers!

My son's cat, Winston, is afraid of everyone and everything. But at least he doesn't scream about wildlife outside the window. He loves sitting in my library windowsills, because they are so very deep and he can hide behind the curtains where no one can see him, and watch the world go by.

I am giggling SO MUCH! I feel for her too but the fact that the neighbor's cat was on the other side of the window...that's just too much!

I know! Now, she is going to be "the cat who cried wolf" - she'll be screaming in ernest, and I'll just think it's a false alarm again!
