Horseshoes & Handgrenades for Weekend Wine Reviews #328
Horseshoes & Handgrenades, Williamette Valley, Oregon & Red Mountain, Washington, Mouton Noir Wines. Wine Awesomeness. 64% Syrah, 19% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Sauvignon. They say: André Hueston Mack has an uncoventional approach to winemaking - the name of his brand is Mouton Noir - which translates to black sheep. Only 120 barrels of this wine were produced. The Oregon Syrah is rich and ripe with a velvety texture while the Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot add a complexity. It is fruit-driven and full bodied. Wet, dark fruit like blackberries and plum. We say: A lot going on with this wine! Deep red fruit. Complex flavors. Very nice!
