Calico Kitties Playing
I'm continuing to work my way through my backlog of kitty cat photos to edit. I used to have 1000+ and I'm now down to 800 or so! Baby steps.
Speaking of babies, these photos are when Luxie was still a kitten, well maybe a teenager. Her and Coco played constantly.
Is anyone else getting crazy cold temperatures this weekend? This morning I saw a hummingbird at the feeder! I always leave the feeder out until the end of November for any stragglers. This guy was bigger than our usual ruby throated, I think he might have been a rufous.
Whatever he is, he better get a move on!
I hope to get by and visit some of your websites this weekend. It's been crazy busy lately. For some reason, I have ended up with all my doctor appointments all within a few weeks of each other.
I've been to the skin doctor, had my physical, have a bone density next week and a colonoscopy (ugh) the week after that. I'm very grateful that I have access to preventative health care, but it seems like every year the doctor adds some new "you're getting old" test.
Apparently, I have restless legs syndrome. I thought I just had strange leg cramps. My doctor put me on Ropinirole. I took it for one night and never agin!
I am a very restless sleeper, tossing and turning, my mind staying active. It takes me forever to go to sleep - I adjust the pillow, the covers, lay this way, lay that way, plan my week, think about the grocery list. Anything but sleep.
But with the Ropinirole, my mind stayed active, but my body was just a dead weight. I turned on my side and stayed there. No desire to move, no desire to get comfortable. I understand that it got rid of my restlessness, but it was just too weird for me. The contrast between my active mind and my slack body was just too much. All I could think about was how weird it felt!
I try not to take too many medications and this is one that I can definitely do without!
Sorry for the rambling!

Love these kitten posts! The artsy photo is gorgeous!
I have restless legs, but since I'm being treated for sleep apnea with a CPAP, it's not much of a problem any longer. I agree...I would not like that medication either.

Oh no I pressed the send button before I was finished and got stuck.
OK let's start again! I love filters, some of then makes colour positively vibrate don't they? I love it when something amazing happens.
As for medicine? It sounds insane!

The art effect really brings out the lighter tan colours in their coats. Quite stunning, as well as very charming to see them (well at least one of them) having a great play.
Lots of purrs

Beautiful action photo! I started meditation to quiet my mind at night, I don't like the drugged version of sleep either!

So nice to see the kitties playing. They are good friends. It was so cold and windy here yesterday also and it came in so quick. It was interesting to read your leg story. Mine cramp up a lot at night also and like you my mind is active a few nights oh the week. That medicine sounds awful. I’m glad to know about that and not take it if it were ever offered. A friend of mine, who is a nurse told me to try TheraWorks. The one that is like shaving cream consistency. I used it two nights in a row and did not have any cramping. Now if I feel a cramp coming on I rub my legs and they subside. I don’t know if this is helpful for you but FYI.

Oh, I will definitely look for it! Thanks so much.

How lovely to see baby Luxie and Coco playing. The artsy effect is lovely too.
I hear you about the Ropinirole.
With me it was a different pill for a different reason. My doctor prescribed Amitryptiline to help me sleep when the cancer returned because my mind was in turmoil. I took them for a while then found I couldn't string a sentence together. The final straw was when I started hallucinating! I stopped them completely and he told me that can happen very occasionally and suggested a different pill which I refused.

Hallucinating! That would be the final straw for me too!

I too have restless legs and was prescribed something with a long list of scary side effects. I never filled it. But, the nurse practitioner at the sleep center told me that some people with iron levels in the "normal" range benefit from an iron supplement to help restless legs. And it has helped mine significantly. If you are open to taking an iron supplement ( it is actually the ferritin protein level that affects restless legs which is tied to the supplement) that might be worth trying.
BTW, I like you blog and kitties very much. I've tried numerous tasty recipes.

Thank you so much Victoria! I will definitely look into taking the iron supplements.
