A review of Qapay Reserva Syrah 2013 for Weekend Wine Reviews #287.
Qapay Reserva Syrah, 2013, Maule Valley, Chile. Wine Insiders, $29.99. They say: combining traditional ideology with modern practices, this Syrah from the award winning Maule Valley has bold flavors and spicy notes. Syrah from Chile has come a long way. This wine is balanced and blends new and old world attributes together to make a unique Syrah. It tastes like: blueberries, blackberries, allspice, herbs, and white pepper. It is best served at room temperature. It pairs well with bbq meats, such as pork, beef or lamb, spicy foods, and hard cheese. We say: Very nice. Full body and mouthfeel. Fruit forward with blueberries and blackberries. Opened up even more as it breathed. Buy again: yes.

I tend to like Syrahs, but ouch, that price tag is a bit high for me. I usually stay with bottles less than 12 dollars. I do love a Syrah with spicy notes!

We've kind of bumped up our price point a bit - going for wines in the 20 dollar range.
