We purchased this amazing bottle of Chardonnay while on our trip to California. It was a last minute decision to stop at the Rodney Strong tasting room. It was our last day of the trip and we were planning on just walking around Santa Rosa, instead we headed a short distance away to the Rodney Strong Vineyards. We are so glad we did! It ended up being one of our most favorite tasting rooms - I hope to have a review up of the room some day! Vince was our guide that day and he was wonderful!!!
Rodney Strong Reserve Chardonnay, 2012, Russian River Valley, Sonoma County. They say: The 2012 displays intense aromas of baked apple, vanilla and toasted hazelnut. Joining stone fruits and spicy oak on the long, creamy finish. We say: oh, this wine makes us wish we could speak wine review language like an expert. It's that good. My most favorite chardonnay. It has the brightness of a sauvignon blanc and the richness of a chardonnay. Absolutely perfect!
One of the things I love about Rodney Strong Vineyards, besides their wine, is that they are certified by the California Sustainable Winegrower's Alliance as a Certified Sustainable Vineyard and Winery. They were the first Carbon Neutral Winery in Sonoma and they hold a Fish Friendly Farming certificate! They even have a solar power program. All of these things make me feel good about how much I enjoy their wine.
For those keeping track this is Weekend Wine Review #250!!

Perfect timing! My mom and I are going to be in Santa Rosa (and Stinson Beach area) next week for our annual mother-daughter birthday/mother's day vacation! I'm going to suggest a visit to Rodney Strong's vineyard! Their cabs look like winners, too.

I have heard of Rodney Strong and probably even had it but not sure about the 2012 reserve...on your review, I've made a note to try it...now off to read the review on Buttercup...just because I like the sound of the name...is that sort of like, don't judge a book by it's cover.
