The first character that we meet in the The Girl on the Train: A Novel
is the girl on the train, Rachel. She rides the train to and from work everyday. During her ride, she passes the same set of houses every day. One in particular, number 15, catches her imagination. She names the couple that lives there, Jess and Jason, and imagines their perfect life from the snippets that she catches.
We learn quite a bit about Rachel and then two other narrators are introduced: Megan and Anna. Megan is the real name of Jess and Anna is Rachel’s ex-husbands wife. All three women are tied together in a story that unfolds steadily, parsing out each new bit of info.
During one of her train rides, Rachel sees Megan kissing another man, and then Megan goes missing. Rachel sets out to find out what happened to Megan and works her way almost obsessively into the lives of Megan and Anna. In the opening paragraphs, we know that someone gets hurt, “My head is thick with sounds, my mouth, thick with blood….Someone is speaking to me. Now look. Now look what you made me do.”
We can only assume that it is Rachel, Megan, or Anna who is hurt, but we don’t know which one. A page turner from beginning to end!

Going to be awhile as I am number 423 on the list waiting at the library…lol. That said, the list moves fairly quickly as they have multiple copies and I have plenty to read in the meantime. Loved your recommendation on Walking on Trampolines, very good read, just a nice read for a winter’s day.
This sounds like a real page turner!
I have this book on my reading list with Amazon…I have lots of books waiting for, both at Amazon and on my bookshelves here at home…but this one does seem to call to me and I’ve read all good things about it…so many I’ll move it to my cart and get going…your review tipped me over the edge..
I love reading…everything…but it’s the perfect end to the day…and also the perfect start to the day….
Cheers….
I’ll pour myself some wine, grab my book and think of you…have a lovely weekend Pam…
