Linen tunics are the backbone of a good spring or summer capsule wardrobe.  They can be dressed up or down.  Here are three ways to style a linen tunic, one even takes you a bit into fall!

Three Ways to Style a Linen Tunic

This is a wrap up post for my three ways to style a linen tunic.  I could have  planned to do this linen tunic wrap up all along or I could have been crazy busy this week and didn't have time to take a new fashion photo.  I'll let you decide what you think happened!

Linen Tunic Three Ways

Do you have a favorite?  I don't really.  I like the orange scarf (similar scarves I also like - Floral Print Lace, Scarf with Butterflies, and Blue Peony) with it and I like it fancier looking with the black pants and the leopard flats (similar - Steve Madden, Tasseled Loafers, and D'orsay Flats.)

The reason I've been so busy is the weather.  We have had fabulous cool mornings and days with low humidity, so I have been out working in the garden like crazy.  I've also been buying plants like crazy, so it's a never ending circle.  Which brings to what I wanted to talk about today - about my capsule wardrobe and how I do it.

I share a walk in closet with my husband, we each have two rods for hanging clothes and several shelves.  One of my rods holds my capsule wardrobe.  The other rods holds the items that I haven't parted with, but aren't in my capsule.  When I started my capsule, I did a huge purge of my closet, but I didn't get rid of everything.  On that extra rod, there are some dressier blouses and some statement tops, like the top from Anthropologie with raindrops and umbrellas on it.  I don't wear these items often, but I am not ready to get rid of them just because I created a capsule.   The difference though is now, I don't buy any more of those kinds of clothing.

On my shelves, what I think of as my work around the house and gardening capsule.   It has 3 pairs of loose comfortable shorts and a stack of men's t-shirts (Fruit of the Loom.)   I'm not going to go out and work in the garden in my nice white t shirt from my capsule wardrobe.

You can see that a capsule wardrobe can be whatever you make of it.  You can follow the rules exactly or you can bend or break them to fit your lifestyle.  I know people that create a capsule wardrobe for work, just for the weekend, or one for working at home.  The main thing that I get from a capsule wardrobe is that I don't have to buy every cute thing I like.  It makes me feel calm to know that I could pretty much reach in blindfolded into my capsule wardrobe and whatever I pull out will go together.
