Early Morning Gardening
I am back this week with some new photos! Yay!
We have been having gloriously cool mornings and I have been taking advantage of them to get out and work in the garden. I hate heat! Since I have lupus, I also don't go outside much once the sun gets high in the sky.
Patchouli has been coming out to help me. With her dark fur, she isn't too happy being out when it's hot and sunny either. She's a regular around here on helping me weed.
Morning Person
Luckily I am definitely a morning person and totally enjoy being out the garden early. I get up at 6 am to start my day and have convinced my husband to get up at 7:30 on weekends. I really feel the difference on the weekend, when I look at the clock and see that it's already 9 or 10 in the morning and I've barely accomplished anything.
I love how fresh and cool everything is in the morning. Birds are waking up. The sun is just rising above the trees. The promise of a good day.
Are you a morning person?
Skittish
Even with me outside with her, she is constantly looking over her shoulder. Looking for the mean kitties, Coco and Tiki (from next door) that bully her.
Though this morning I went inside to get some water and I found her and Tikki both on the driveway! Tikki got up an ran away when she saw me (I am constantly chasing her out of the yard with a super soaker water gun - my husband says that Tikki considers me a sport.)
Well, it's time to go out and move the sprinklers! I hope everyone has a lovely weekend and a happy 4th of July!
For my artsy photo this week, I used Topaz Labs as usual, but used a black and white preset since Patchouli was already black and white!

WOW! That black and white is stunningāthe clarity and feeling from the image is intense. I love Patchouli images, and I think this will be one of my favourites.
We are definitely NOT afternoon folk here, and mornings at 4 or 5 am are common whilst the sun is up with us. In winter it is naturally a lot later before we rise, which suits my staff a lot, MOL

Getting up later in the winter makes so much sense! Who wants to get up when it's cold and dark!

Miss Pam. Patchouli is looking like a summer fairy princess in those photos! She is in good paws with you as her protector from those next-door bullies. My cousin Merlin keeps getting beat up by a bully in his neighborhood, when all he wants to do is make friends. Cheek nuzzles.

I am not a morning person. Total night owl here. Doesn't sit well when I have to get up at 6:00 am to take my son to school every day, and at 7:00 am for summer football practice. One more year. I work from home so no more early mornings for me. HaHa.

Not a fan of the heat either and morning is definitely the best time to be outside enjoying the garden. We did this today, but it got hot too soon!

Yes, Iām also a morning person but I do inside work first. I like to be out later in the afternoon when the sun starts to drop and I always water my plants at that time. Either way, it is so nice just to be out.

That is a lovely photo and the black and white suits it.
I am not a morning person. I don't sleep well so rarely go to bed before 2.30am, then get up around 8.30. With the long light evenings I do most of my gardening between 8.30 and 10.30pm when it has cooled down a bit. Sunset here is around 9.30 at the moment, but it is light enough to see what you are doing until 10.30-11pm.

I find that there are too many mosquitos when I try and garden in the evening.
