Green Tea is So Good For You!

I don't know about you, but I follow all the latest scientific evidence and studies on antioxidants and good for you foods.  The thing is they seem to change daily.  Butter - bad for you, then better than margarin for you.  Coffee, not so good, then yes, it's good.  Bacon - bad for you, then good for you.  Well, maybe I made up the one about the the bacon, but there are some foods that are high in antioxidants and everyone agrees on them.

One of those is green tea.  Every morning, I try to have a cup of coffee, a cup of black tea, and a cup of green tea.  I like to try and cover all my bases.  But then I found an even easier way to make sure I had my green tea covered - Matcha Green Tea Powder.

Matcha Green Tea Gives You Such an Energy Boost

The thing is, I've seen it show up on a lot of food blogs, but I always thought it was just as easy to make a cup of green tea.  Wrong.  First of all you only need a little of this, just ½ to 1 teaspoon gives you up to 137 times the EGCG of brewed green tea!  As soon as I got it, I knew I was going to cook with it, but the hubs wanted to try it just mixed with a little water and some agave.

So good.  So easy.  And, I couldn't believe the energy boost it gave me.  He now uses it every morning in his protein shake!  So, we're going to have to keep plenty of this around, so I have enough for cooking and making things like Matcha Green Tea Frozen Yogurt!

    Matcha Green Tea Frozen Yogurt

This Matcha Green Tea Frozen Yogurt is heavy on the green tea flavor.  I love it, but feel free to reduce the amount of Matcha Green Tea Powder if you'd like.  This is such a creamy, tasty dessert, that is good and good for you!  The vanilla vodka is optional, but I use it to keep my treats from freezing so hard.  I made it in my favorite ice cream maker: my Cuisinart.

Hi... I haven't tried this recipe yet, but this looks delish, so I'm giving it 3 stars for now...I wanted to ask what brand vanilla vodka do you use...or can you use just plain vodka and up the vanilla extract? TIA

I just buy whatever vanilla vodka that I find, usually the cheapest. It doesn't really provide that much flavor, I use it more to keep the frozen yogurt from freezing so hard. So, you could use plain vodka.

I've never used matcha, though I've tasted it and like it. This sounds like a great introduction to it in a simple warm weather treat.

Could you replace the vanilla vodka with something else?

Yes, you can omit it. I just use a little alcohol to keep it from freezing so hard.

I have been surprised to not see any matcha flavored anything here in Italy. I think it would be awesome in gelato! In the meantime I am going to get my fix by staring at this and drooling.
