Ease a Dark and Stormy Cocktail into fall and winter with apple and maple!  The flavors of apple, maple and ginger all pair so beautifully with the rum!  You'll want to make a pitcher of these!

Two glasses with a dark and stormy cocktail garnished with apple slices.

    Easy Cocktails

I am all about easy cocktails.  Give me a two ingredient cocktail and I am in love.  One of my favorite two ingredient cocktails is a Dark and Stormy.

I can barely remember what I had for breakfast, but I can remember how to make a dark and stormy.  It's just rum topped with ginger beer.  So easy and so good.

With it's heat and spiciness, I love ginger year round.  Put it with something light and bubbly and it feels springy, pair it with something dark and rich and it feels fall and winter.

For today's recipe, I took a Dark and Stormy and added some apple juice and maple syrup.  Easy peasy, but oh so good!

Dark rum, ginger beer, apple juice, maple syrup and an apple - ingredients to make an Apple Maple Dark and Stormy.

Ingredients to Make an Apple Maple Dark and Stormy

    • Dark Rum - since the Dark 'n Stormy was actually created by Goslings, it's the rum we use!
    • Ginger Beer.
    • Apple Juice - organic if possible.  Can use apple cider.
    • Maple Syrup.
    • Apple - for garnish.

How to Make this Dark and Stormy

Pitcher filled with a dark cocktail and a stirring spoon.

In a pitcher, combine the rum, maple syrup, apple juice and ginger beer in a pitcher and stir.

Pitcher with 2 glasses with apple slices and ice and a pitcher.

Fill glasses with ice.  This serves 4, but with just the two of us, we were able to have 2 cocktails each.

To get those gorgeous apple slice garnishes:  cut your apple in half crosswise.  Using a mandoline, thinly slice the apple.  You could do it with a knife, but the mandoline makes perfect thin slices.

Place apple slices in glass and pour cocktail over ice.

    Enjoy!

Two cocktails with apple slice garnish and a pitcher.

    Yummy Fall Cocktail!

This was so good and so easy.  You get a little bit of bite and heat from the ginger, light fruitiness from the apple and rich sweetness from the maple, all which pair so beautifully with the dark rum.

You could easily make a pitcher of these for a party, so easy to scale up!   They'd make a great cocktail for Halloween or Thanksgiving!
