The weather is warming up and it's time for Frozen Cocktails.  A classic is this recipe for The Best Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri, perfect for strawberry season!

    Strawberry season!

It's May and besides being my birthday month, my husband's birthday month, and Mother's Day, it's also Strawberry Season!

It's the time, when I try to use strawberries in almost every way possible!  From a Grilled Kale Salad with Strawberries to a Strawberry Lime Shrub.

But one of my favorite things to make during strawberry season is a frozen strawberry daiquiri and this recipe is so easy and makes the best strawberry cocktail!

Strawberries, cointreau, lime, sugar and rum.

    Ingredients

Strawberries - I think what makes this extra rich and slushy is that you use both frozen and fresh strawberries. Whenever strawberries are on sale, I always buy extra and freeze them. If all you have is frozen strawberries, just take out a few and let them thaw a little longer.

Orange Liqueur - you can use Cointreau, Triple Sec or even Homemade Orange Liqueur.

Lime - fresh lime juice. If you bought organic, be sure and save the zest! I use a vegetable peeler to make large peels and freeze them flat in a bag. Perfect for garnishing drinks!

Rum - we like a white rum for this.

Sugar - this is optional and depends on how sweet your strawberries are.

How to make a strawberry daiquiri.

Begin by adding 2 ounces of rum to your blender.

Pour in an ounce of your orange liqueur.

Pour in 2 tablespoons of fresh lime juice.

Add 2 tablespoons of sugar. This is optional, depending on the sweetness of the berries.

Add 6 fresh strawberries to the blender and then 1 cup of frozen strawberries.

Add 1 ½ cups of ice to the blender. My fridge does roughly crushed ice, so I used that to give it a bit of a head start.

    Blend until smooth.

    The best daiquiri recipe!

I have tried many frozen strawberry daiquiris and I have to say that this is The Best Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri.

I think it is the blend of frozen strawberries with regular strawberries.   Of course, the Grand Marnier and the Rum certainly helped!

I found this recipe in the recipe book that came with my Vitamix.   The Vitamix really shines with frozen cocktails, they come out perfect, so smooth!

I served the daiquiris in some classic Hurricane Glasses.

For frozen cocktails, I especially recommend Stainless Steel Straws.   They get cold and stay cold and they hold up so much better than paper and it's much better for the environment!  You can use them over and over!

You have no idea how much I needed this today. It is dreary, cold and yucky out and I decided to be tropical and fun. This made my day.

Strawberry daiquiri is my husband's favorite drink. As a matter of fact when we go to a restaurant and he orders it, the server will usually being our drinks to the table and end up giving my husband my beer and his daiquiri to me. Lol so I guess I should make this to him at home and spare him the embarrassment.
