Is is so easy to make your own raspberry vodka!  No need to buy store bought!   Use it in any cocktail that calls for vodka and you'll have the pretty pink cocktails we all love!

    Making Homemade Fruit Vodkas

While I love making quick freezer jams and even quicker chia jams, my favorite way to preserve the lovely flavors of fruit is with fruit vodkas!

When you stroll down the vodka aisle at the liquor store, you'll notice the plethora of fruit flavored vodkas.  If you look at them, you'll notice that a lot of them contain "natural flavors" and other questionable ingredients.  What are natural flavors?

If like me you think that fruit vodka should contain fruit and vodka and nothing else, then welcome to the wonderful world of homemade fruit vodkas!

It is so easy to make your own at home, you know exactly what is in it and they taste delicious!

    How to Make Fruit Vodkas

I took step by step photos of how to make this raspberry vodka.  Really.  You're going to laugh because it's so crazy easy.

Photo collage showing the steps to making raspberry vodka.

First you gather your ingredients - raspberries, vodka and a sterilized jar.   All you need is one pint of raspberries and one and half cups of vodka!

Then you put the raspberries in vodka in the jar, put a lid on it and let it steep for about 2 weeks in a cool dark location.  I used my pantry.  Then strain the raspberries out of the vodka as you pour it into a bottle.   Sorry I didn't get a photo of my straining it, hard to strain and hold the phone at the same time.  Just pour it through a fine mesh strainer.

The raspberries will be a grayish pink having given up all their gorgeous color to your pretty pink raspberry vodka.

    Raspberry Vodka

I store my bottle of raspberry vodka in the liquor cabinet, where it will stay good indefinitely, though we try to use it up within the year (not a problem at our house!)   You can also store it in the fridge, where it will stay nice and cool and makes a delicious raspberry martini.

One of my favorite things about the vodka is that it turns every cocktail into a pretty pink cocktail.  You can use this fruit vodka in place of vodka in any of your favorite cocktail recipes.

I know that it's early, but this also makes an amazing Christmas gift!

Does the vodka come out sweet?

Any options to make it sweeter ? How much honey would you recommend?

You inn it decreases the vodka percentage to 30%? 35%? What's your best estimate ?

      Making this for my wedding.

      thank you 😊

This does not come out that sweet, it's more of a fruity vodka. I think you might want a raspberry liqueur as opposed to raspberry vodka - if you go to Creative Culinary's website she has a raspberry liqueur recipe.

How many 6 oz packages of raspberries would you use with 1 1/2 cups of vodka?

Yes, thaw them first and try and get any ice crystal water off of them.

Followed these instructions, and it's delicious! I added a step of straining through a coffee filter to improve clarity-- Using the same process to make blackberry now. 🙂 I can't have processed sugar, so this has been an awesome way to make flavored vodkas I can actually drink!

why is it necessary to sterilize the jar?

It's just a good idea to start with a clean jar, even though the alcohol should kill off anything that might be in the jar. Sometimes I sterilize it and sometimes, I just wash it really good.

I don't know if vodka kills the antioxidants (I think it does, but not sure), but that wouldn't stop me drinking this hehe!

I'm taking part in Foodie Friday for the first time this week 🙂
