If you haven't tried an old fashioned Sherry Cobbler, you are in for a treat! It's so easy to make, lower alcohol and you can garnish it as over the top as you'd like. The more over the top the better! Super refreshing and super easy to make!

Two bright yellow cocktails garnished with mint, raspberries, blackberries, orange slice and a metal straw.

A sherry cobbler has been on my list of cocktails to try for ever! I loved the photos of them with all the fruit garnishes.

They looked like a fun cocktail to make and to drink.

I just kept forgetting to get some Amontillado Sherry. Finally, when I had a freezer full of berries (and felt like I do the garnish justice) I got some sherry.

OMG. So easy to make and so refreshing and delicious! It's time for this classic to make a comeback!

Sherry, simple syrup, orange, raspberries, blackberries, mint sprigs in a jar.

    Ingredients

Amontillado Sherry - is a darker sherry than fino sherry. You can use any good quality sherry, just don't get something super cheap since it is the star of the cocktail.

Simple syrup - while I used a plain simple syrup, this might be a fun cocktail to play with some flavored - like Honey Simple Syrup or Ginger Simple Syrup.

Citrus - for this version, I used an orange. You can use an orange, lemon or lime or a combination.

Garnishes - berries and mint are traditional.

Photo collage showing orange being muddled and sherry added to muddled orange in a cocktail shaker.

    Instructions

Pour ½ ounce of simple syrup into a cocktail shaker. Add an orange slice that's been cut into 4ths. Muddle the orange with the simple syrup.

Pour 3 ½ ounces of sherry into the cocktail shaker.

Photo collage showing cocktail shaker with lid on it and then cocktail being strained into a glass of ice.

Fill cocktail glass with ice and add lid. Shake vigorously for 15 seconds.

Fill a collins glass with crushed ice. Strain cocktail into the glass.

Add more ice to the top of the glass.

Garnish with fresh mint, berries, and an orange slice and add a straw.

Fun Fact - the sherry cobbler is regarded as the first cocktail that made having a straw in your cocktail popular.

Do you believe how easy it is to make this! I'm kicking myself for waiting so long to try it.

It really is a fun cocktail to drink. I wouldn't necessarily call it a manly cocktail, with it's over the top fruit garnish and lower alcohol, but my husband enjoyed it!

It would be great for a backyard barbecue or party or how about instead of the usual mimosa's for lunch you had some of these!
