    What are tiki cocktails?

What are tiki cocktails, besides being delicious? They are a category of tropical drinks, usually made with rum and usually fruity with fun garnishes.

Tiki drinks are also deceptively easy to drink!

I've been fascinated with all things Tiki after finding a bunch of stir sticks, tiki mugs and umbrellas from Trader Vic's in my grandmother's bar. Apparently she visited there a lot in the 60's and 70's!

After a few sips of the perfect Mai Tai, I can see why!

Let's start with my very favorite Tiki drink, the Mai Tai! The Mai Tai was actually invented by Victor Bergeron from Trader Vic's!

Most of the ingredients for a Mai Tai are pretty easy to find, the only tricky one might be orgeat syrup. You can find it in most liquor stores now, or you can use my recipe to make Homemade Orgeat Syrup!

Next, let's talk about frozen Tiki Cocktails! Frozen cocktails and tropical breezes go hand in hand, don't they.

Up first is a frozen mango daiquiri. Whenever mangoes go on sale, I buy them, dice them and freeze them, so that I can have this fruity frozen daiquiri whenever I want. You can also make it using the big bottles of mango nectar at most grocery stores.

While you're thinking about frozen daiquiris, don't forget the classic Frozen Banana Daiquiri. We have this all the time. As soon as bananas start getting a little ripe, we slice them into 4ths (that way you can roughly guess 4 pieces makes one banana) and store them in the freezer.

I couldn't go without the classic of all classics, the Piña Colada! With coconut and rum, you can practically feel the ocean breeze! It you want a fun adult treat, try these Piña Colada Popsicles or Piña Colada Sherbet!

Last, but not least, is the Scorpion Cocktail! The Scorpion was usually served in a big scorpion bowl, with several straws and was shared.

I would love to get my hands on a Scorpion Cocktail Bowl, but in the meantime, I'll just serve them in regular glasses.

This is exactly what I need right now! I've recently started to really like Mai Tai's and I've never heard of a Scorpian cocktail so I can't wait to try that one.
