Aloft Asheville Downtown - a fantastic Asheville hotel. Located downtown, with shops and restaurants all within easy walking distance. Pet friendly too!
Where to Stay in Asheville
Whenever we visit a city, we always try to stay in a downtown hotel. We want to be able to head back to our hotel after a day of sight seeing and not have to get in our car again to go out to eat or to checkout the night life of a city.
We were planning a trip to Asheville, North Carolina to see the Biltmore Estate's Christmas display (will review next week!) Tossing around the idea of staying at a hotel on the Biltmore Estates, we decided instead to stay in a downtown Asheville hotel.
Based on reviews and photos that we found, we chose Aloft Asheville Downtown. It was perfect!
Asheville's South Slope
Aloft Asheville is located in the southern part of downtown Asheville an area known as the South Slope. If you are into breweries, and we are, this location is a dream come true. We simply had to walk out the door, turn right and within a block was Wicked Weed Brewery. From there all within a short distance was Green Man Brewery, Burial Beer and more. It's just about a 30 minute drive to Sierra Nevada Brewery and just a mile and a half from New Belgium Brewery.
If you're not into Asheville Breweries, no problem, turn left and you are headed further into downtown Asheville (and more breweries - apparently Asheville has more breweries per capita than any other city!) Restaurants, bars, and even a movie theater all right there, within easy walking distance!
Aloft Asheville Downtown
When you go in the ground floor entrance of the hotel, there is a sporting goods apparel store on the left and a sign directing you to go the second floor to check in. The second floor is bright and colorful. It has a quick grab-and-go section with Starbucks coffee and snacks. There is a comfortable seating area. The check in desk is a round station in the middle. On the other side is a bar/lounge. My favorite part (you can see it in the photo above is that they foster dogs!)
Very Dog Friendly!
In a small gated in area, they had the cutest little foster dog. It seemed like every time we came through the lobby, someone had the pup on their lap.
We later saw that next to the pool, there is an artificial turf walking area for dogs.
My husband is allergic to dogs and we had no problems with this hotel. Our room and all the areas that we were in were kept very clean. No pet odors or hair any where!
Room with a View!
We choose a mountain view, 2 queen beds room. It was very tastefully and simply decorated. A window seat in front of the window encouraged you to sit and gaze out at the mountains. Straight down we could see the pool. There was a fire pit at the pool and lots of comfortable seating - we will definitely go back in warmer weather.
If you turned you head a little bit, the mountains were right there. I sat on the seat enjoying the view and a cup of coffee.
The beds were very comfortable. There was also a coffee maker, a mini fridge and free wifi.
The Bathroom
The bathroom was on the other side of the wall from the bedroom. It too was decorated simply. The highlight was the shower. Oh my gosh. I am still dreaming about that shower. It had the best water pressure, it was definitely one of the best showers of my life!
The dispensers in the shower held Bliss body wash, shampoo, and conditioner.
Loved our Stay at Loft Asheville Downtown
We loved our stay at Loft Asheville Downtown. We were within walking distance of breweries, restaurants and shopping. It was less than a 10 minute drive to Biltmore Estates and their Christmas Display!
We also loved that we had the option to hang a card on our door saying that we wanted to go green and to not change out sheets and towels. Each day we earned a $5.00 reward card that we could use at the grab-and-go, or you could apply it to Marriott Rewards, which is what we did!
I'm looking forward to going back when the weather is warmer and enjoying that pool and get in some hiking!
