Wicked Weed Brewing - we loved all of the Asheville Breweries that we visited, but Wicked Weed was closest to our hotel and became and regular stop every evening! The burgers were amazing too!
Breweries in Asheville
I mentioned in my post on Sierra Nevada Brewery that Asheville has more breweries per capita than any other city in the United States! We loved Green Man Brewery and New Belgium Brewery, but the one that we visited the most was Wicked Weed Brewing.
Wicked Weed Brewing was just down the street from our downtown Asheville hotel. We stopped in there at the end of day and filled up a growler to take back to the hotel. It was perfect!
Outdoor Patio Area at Wicked Weed Brewing
Wicked Weed Brewing is located on the southern end of downtown Asheville. It has a large outdoor patio area with plenty of seating, nice landscaping and a fire pit.
We were there in mid November and it was cold and drizzly, so unfortunately we didn't get to enjoy that part of the brewery. We will definitely go back when the weather is warmer!
Layout of Wicked Weed Brewery
When you first walk in, you notice how big it is! There is a large bar area to your left with tables along the windows, large center tables and then the bar. Further to the left are steps leading to the downstairs bar. On the right is a section of tables for the restaurant part of the brewery.
Beer Flight at Wicked Weed Brewing
We walked downstairs to the basement bar for our beer flight. It's set up very nicely with the brewing equipment off to one side, a small bar, and several tables. We ordered a classic flight which was 6 beers and was $11.00.
We chose the Pernicious IPA, Chromatic, Freak of Nature, Milk & Cookies, Hop Coco, and Xibalba. We really enjoyed all of them, but the Milk & Cookies was my favorite!! We went back two nights in a row to get a growler of Milk & Cookies. So good!
Wicked Weed Pub
On our last night in Asheville, it was raining and cold. We didn't want to walk far, so we headed back to Wicked Weed to eat dinner. I ordered the Wicked Burger (grassfed burger with roasted mushrooms, swiss cheese, onion jam and horseradish cream) with fries and my husband ordered the Bison Burger (Carolina bison burger with haystack shallots and blue cheese coleslaw) with sweet potato fries.
My burger was amazing!! So much going on. The kick of the horseradish was perfectly tempered by the sweet jam and mushroom and swiss cheese is a classic combination that always works. My husband's burger was also delicious, it just didn't have as much going on as mine.
The fries were also good, perfectly crisp. The sweet potato fries were the best I have ever had, they looked hand cut, but I don't know if they were. They were thin and crisp and perfectly seasoned.
Loved it and will definitely go back when it's warmer!
