    Smoothies make the best desserts!

Lately I've been drinking my desserts.  No.  Not like that!  Though there isn't anything wrong with that.  I'm talking about smoothies.

Smoothies are the perfect dessert. They are quick to whip up, sweet, but still good for you!

It is so easy now to have a dessert that tastes good and is good for me!

    Tips for healthy smoothies!

My number one tip for creating healthy smoothies is to stock your freezer!  When fruits and vegetables go on sale, stock up!

My freezer is packed now with possible smoothie ingredients.  I keep all sorts of frozen fruit and bags of frozen spinach, but for this smoothie, all you need are ice cubes to make it cold and frosty.

Some of my favorite fruits to keep in the freezer for smoothies:  bananas, mangoes, strawberries, kiwis, blueberries, peaches, raspberries, blackberries and pineapple.  I also keep spinach and kale.

The other ingredient that I always keep in my fridge for smoothies is plain yogurt.  It was perfect for this smoothie from Vitamix.

The recipe calls for vanilla yogurt, but a little splash of vanilla extract makes my plain yogurt vanilla in a snap.  I buy plain instead of vanilla so that it can also be used for a substitute for sour cream if I need to.

All you need for this smoothie is apples, vanilla yogurt (or plain with vanilla extract), brown sugar, apple pie spice and ice cubes!

When I drink my dessert, it's usually whiskey. Hahahaha... But I could definitely be down for an apple pie in smoothie form, too! Yum!

Now that's a clever idea! I haven't time to make a smoothie on a work morning and I'm trying to be healthier and not eat dessert every night although I am keen to try the frozen banana and strawberry *ice cream* I saw on Pinterest. Obviously apple pie spice is a pre mixed combination. As we don't get that here do you know what spices are used - cinnamon obviously but the others?

If you google it, it's easy to make. The recipes vary, but an easy one is just cinnamon, nutmeg, and cardamom.
