Healthy Frozen Yogurt
I’ve mentioned before my love of desserts. A meal just doesn’t feel complete without a little something sweet at then end. It doesn’t have to be big and elaborate, just a bit of a sweet.
Of course, it’s even better if it can be a healthy dessert – or at least on the healthier side. Though I can rationalize the health benefits of even the most decadent dessert (it’s a talent.)
Which brings us to today’s healthy frozen yogurt recipe. It is perfect for an easy healthy dessert. If you need more prodding about reading about the health benefits of yogurt?
Ingredients in this Frozen Yogurt Recipe
Raspberries – can use fresh or frozen. Could also use blackberries, strawberries or blueberries.
Yogurt – plain. Either low fat or full fat. We use homemade full fat yogurt.
Sugar – this recipe is lower in sugar than most. Could substitute honey or maple syrup.
Vanilla Extract – great way to use your Homemade Vanilla Extract.
Chocolate chips – preferably mini.
Vodka – helps keep the yogurt from freezing so hard. Use vanilla vodka or homemade raspberry vodka.
How to Make Raspberry Chocolate Chip Frozen Yogurt
Let’s talk about how easy it is to make this frozen yogurt recipe. Begin by placing the raspberries, yogurt, sugar, vanilla extract and vodka in your favorite food processor. Process until creamy.
Pour the pureed yogurt mixture into you favorite ice cream maker – I love my Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker! Let the mixture process for about 25 minutes and then pour in the mini chocolate chips for the last 5 minutes.
When it’s done, scoop the frozen yogurt into a lidded container and store in the fridge.

We love this raspberry frozen yogurt and have been having it regularly since 2013, which is when I originally found it in an Eating Well Magazine.
What I love about this recipe is that it uses a little less sugar than most. Because of that, it does freeze a little bit more firm that some recipes. You might want to take it out of the freezer about 5-10 minutes before you’re going to serve it.

Raspberry Chocolate Chip Frozen Yogurt
- 3 cups raspberries fresh or frozen
- 2 cups low-fat plain yogurt
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips preferably mini
- 2 Tablespoons vanilla vodka my addition
- Place raspberries, yogurt, sugar, vodka and vanilla in a food processor and process until smooth.
- Transfer the mixture to an ice cream maker . Freeze according to manufacturer’s directions, or until desired consistency. Add chocolate chips during the last 5 minutes of freezing.
- Transfer to an airtight container and freeze until ready to serve.
