So, guess who got a Vitamix for Mother’s Day!!! Of course, by “getting” I mean that I made my family go to Costco. I made them stand in front of the Vitamix demo and try every single thing he made. Well, after the first taste, I didn’t have to “make” them do anything, they were hooked. Then I even let them lift the box and put it in the cart for me. Now, that my friends is how you get exactly what you want for Mother’s Day!
Before making my decision, I had posted on a Facebook group that I was trying to decide between the Blendtec and the Vitamix What I learned was that everyone who has one of these blenders is passionate about it. The Blendtec people, loved their Blendtecs. The Vitamix people loved their Vitamix. Both are high end blenders capable of handling just about whatever you throw at it. What won me over to the Vitamix was the tamper tool. You use the tool to push the ingredients down and make sure it gets in contact with the blades – no more turning the blender off and scraping down the sides.
I think that I have used the Vitamix every day since we brought it home! We are big dessert people in the Sidewalk Shoes household. Dinner just doesn’t fill like dinner unless there is a little something afterwards. While cakes and cookies make perfect little somethings, they aren’t good for you by any stretch of the imagination. Enter the Vitamix. We have had a smoothie for dessert every day. My number one tip – frozen bananas. If you have frozen bananas you can make a smoothie out of anything!
This smoothie has no added sugar or sweetener, though you wouldn’t believe that when you taste it. It is so rich and creamy and decadent, you won’t believe it’s good for you! This makes two generous servings in cute Anchor Hocking Classic Soda Fountain Glass and cute Straws.

This Strawberry, Banana and Kiwi Smoothie is so rich and decadent, you're going to forget it's good for you!
- 1 cup milk (almond, rice, soy, regular)
- 1 frozen banana
- 2 cups strawberries
- 1 kiwi , peeled
Place ingredients in blender in order listed. Process on smoothie setting, or until desired consistency is reached.
