Yesterday I had a photoshoot for my business, Pamela Greer Photography. If you know about lighting and photography, I’m sure you’ve heard of the “golden hour.” It’s that hour right after sunrise and right before sunset. The sun is at an angle and provides a soft flattering light. The problem is that the evening shoots, right now, begin right about my dinner time. If you know anything about me, you know I can not skip a meal. I invented the word hangry. The only thing is that I don’t like to eat a big meal before going to do a photo shoot. Enter smoothies to the rescue. A smoothie fills me up without being heavy. They are quick and easy and with my Vitamix, which practically cleans itself, perfect for a quick pick me up. This Strawberry Watermelon Smoothie from Bon Appetite sounded perfect.
Now, I realize that since I was using this as a meal, I probably should have made one with a little more substance. Maybe some protein and some greens. But it was a gorgeous sunny day, I had just cut some roses from my garden and I was in the mood for a pink smoothie. Don’t judge me. This strawberry watermelon smoothie really did end up being perfect. It was cool and refreshing and tasted like summer in a glass. It filled me up without being heavy. This is one I will definitely be repeating. When strawberries are in season, I freeze them just for smoothies like this.
